As we hit our one year mark since Covid-19 was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization, the nature of employment strategies continue to grow more complex than ever before and the supply and demand for workers continue to change.

More than ever, job seekers are actively pursuing staffing agencies as they navigate this extended period of uncertainty. Here are some of the big changes that have happened with employment during this year.

WFH

A surprising shift due to Covid-19, many employees are now working from home which has drastically changed the way companies around the world are operating. Saving money, time, and resources are a win for big corporations so some of these operations may consider permanent WFH choices and alternative business strategies such as:

  • Hosting Zoom Interviews – This has helped employers save time, easier to screen candidates, and saves job seekers gas.

  • Permanent WFH – This saves on many operational costs and office supplies, more sustainability or less of a carbon footprint, and flexibility for employees to work in the comfort of their own home (especially parents).

The demand for hiring decreased in some industries such as Financial but improved in others like Hospitality and Oil. Overall, 80% more of job seekers can expect to find work this year, regardless of COVID-19 and the dip in employment results from last year.
